Why are we here?
The NWT small business sector needs access to flexible and responsive financial services in order to take advantage of commercially viable opportunities. The chartered banks are hesitant and often unable to provide these services for clients, as they are perceived as having an insufficient track record to access commercial financing. In addition, chartered banks in the Northwest Territories do not have an established branch network in the communities due to high costs and small markets. Where there are bank branches in communities, they often cater to the non-commercial customer base.
Akaitcho Business Development Corporation understands these conditions of business in the North, and knows how to work with residents of the communities to create businesses that are well-planned, and securely viable.
